Berdaguer & Péjus at Galerie Martine Aboucaya, Paris, 2006

The article reviews several exhibitions in Paris's Saint-Germain district in September–October 2006. At Galerie Martine Aboucaya, Berdaguer & Péjus presented their work. Philippe Mayaux at Galerie Loevenbruck showed sculptures evoking pink macarons with anatomical details, referencing cannibalistic gastronomy. His visibility increased due to a summer exhibition at Villa Tamaris, a retrospective monograph, and his nomination for the Prix Marcel Duchamp at FIAC. At Galerie Georges-Philippe & Nathalie Vallois, Alain Bublex's hot-dog stand was closed, and the exhibition featured an unfinished wooden structure, a wall drawing, and an electric train, with a deliberate 1990s rhetoric. At Galerie Alain Le Gaillard, Swiss photographer Annelies Strba presented digital photographs from her series "Frances et les elfes," inspired by the Cottingley fairy hoax involving Arthur Conan Doyle. Her images exploit digital distortion and saturation, sometimes appearing too realistic. At Galerie Kamel Mennour, Janine Gordon showed photographs of enduro motorcycles in flight against colored skies, while Zineb Sedira's photographs and video depicted the Algiers shoreline and ruins of French houses eroded by the sea, evoking Caspar David Friedrich's "Monk by the Sea."
