Beral Madra and Răzvan Ion to Curate 2018 Bucharest Biennale

The 8th Bucharest Biennale will be curated by Beral Madra and Răzvan Ion, running from 17 May to 8 July 2018. Titled 'Edit Your Future', the biennial will examine evolving economic, political, and human interactions through contemporary art's collaborative instruments. Madra, based in Istanbul, directed the first two editions of the Istanbul Biennial and has curated Turkish artists at five Venice Biennale editions. Ion, a Bucharest-based curator, has taught at UC Berkeley and the University of London. He has organized symposia at institutions including Rotterdam's Witte de With and New York's Art in General. The biennial aims to analyze socialization mechanisms within urban contexts through art production.
