institutional · 2026-04-27

Bepi Vigna, a writer, screenwriter, and director born in Nuoro in 1957, has been named artistic director of the Museo del Fumetto (Comics Museum) in Norbello, in the province of Oristano, Sardinia. Vigna has collaborated with Sergio Bonelli Editore for over thirty years, co-created the character Nathan Never, and written for Dylan Dog, Zagor, and Martin Mystère. In 1993, he founded the Centro Internazionale del Fumetto in Cagliari, which he continues to direct. The new museum, officially called the Museo del Fumetto e del Design Interattivo, aims to become a hub for comics in Sardinia. Vigna will work with a team including Stefania Costa, Laura Congiu, Lorella Costa, and collector Raffaele Piras, who will guide visitors. The museum will feature a virtual reality space dedicated to the Peanuts. The inaugural exhibition, titled Originalia, showcases original works by historic comic artists, including a Donald Duck strip by Al Taliaferro, a page from El Eternauta by Solano López, works by a young Milo Manara, Marvel pages, and Italian comics from the 1950s and 1960s such as Il grande Blek, Capitan Miki, and Tex. Also on display are cels (animation cells) from Japanese cartoons. Future events include meetings with authors, conferences on media, and a February exhibition on superheroes, exploring their role as modern mythology. Vigna emphasizes the importance of investing in culture to boost tourism and create international dialogue through the universal language of comics.
