Benni Bosetto's 'Rebecca' Transforms Foscarini Shed into Haunted House
Benni Bosetto's exhibition 'Rebecca' at the Foscarini Shed in Venice is a labyrinthine installation that merges literature, psychoanalysis, poetry, eroticism, and craft. Curated by Milovan Farronato, the show is structured around three zones—pancia (belly), guancia (cheek), and cuore (heart)—inspired by Daphne du Maurier's 1938 novel 'Rebecca' and Julio Cortázar's 1946 story 'Casa Tomada'. The central nave features works like 'La bocca' (2022) and 'Le cellule' (2026), hundreds of wallpaper rolls covering the shed. Nine 'Porte' (2026) on the floor reference tarot cards and Lewis Carroll. The 'guancia' section includes 'Corridoio Orgonico' (2026), named after Wilhelm Reich's orgone energy, and 'Gli occhi' (2026), with lace curtains and black women's shoes as guardians. The 'cuore' is a milonga (tango hall) with animal masks for 'Tango (II version)' (2026) performances. The exhibition runs from May 3, 2026, and is one of the most original proposals in emerging Italian art.
