Benidorm star Elsie Kelly dies at 89

Elsie Kelly, known for playing Noreen Maltby in the ITV sitcom Benidorm, has died at age 89. Kelly appeared in 48 episodes of the show, which ran from 2007 to 2018, and also acted in Skins, Crossroads, and early Coronation Street episodes. Creator Derren Litten called her a "comic genius" and revealed she originally auditioned for another part before he expanded her role. Co-star Johnny Vegas, who played her on-screen son, praised her as a mother figure. Kelly was a former director of the Birkenhead Operatic Society. She recently appeared in two episodes of BBC's Inside Number 9.
