Benefit auction funds Casa das Artes at São Paulo school

market-auction · 2026-05-07

Escola Livre Areté is hosting a benefit auction featuring works by Brazilian artists to finance the creation of Casa das Artes, expanding its Waldorf-based pedagogical program. The auction includes photographs by Sebastião Salgado and João Farkas, alongside works by Antonio Peticov, Brisa Noronha, Emerson Rocha, Luiza Gottschalk, Deco Adjiman, Auá Mendes, and Luiz Martins. Curator Verinha Nunes helped expand the catalog, which emphasizes Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous productions, aligning with the school's curriculum including Guarani language and culture teaching and an annual Black culture festival. Half of the proceeds from works by Black and Indigenous artists go directly to them, the other half to Casa das Artes. Pre-bids are open on iArremate, with starting prices from R$ 2,500 to R$ 85,000. The final auction takes place online on May 16 at 4:30 PM.
