Belvedere Hosts Discussion on Collecting in Time

On August 27, 2026, the Belvedere in Vienna will hold a 'Sprechstunde' (consultation hour) titled 'Sammeln in der Zeit' (Collecting in Time). This monthly event invites participants to reflect on themes of collecting, institutional commissioning, and the artist's role within a collection. The discussion is framed by the exhibition 'Stellprobe. Sammlungszugänge der letzten Dekade in einem Display von Heimo Zobernig,' which showcases recent acquisitions. Moderated by Francesca Liva and Eva Mühlbacher from Belvedere art education, the session will explore questions such as what it means for artists to be commissioned by an institution, whether storage considerations play a role, and how it feels to be part of a collection and the art canon.
