Belvedere 21 Opens Dual Exhibitions Featuring Collection Acquisitions and Miao Ying's European Debut

On July 9, 2026, Belvedere 21 launched two simultaneous exhibitions across all three levels of its Vienna museum. Austrian Vice Chancellor and Federal Minister for Housing, Arts, Culture, Media, and Sport Andreas Babler presided over the opening ceremony. The ground and upper floors feature 'Stellprobe,' a presentation of acquisitions made for the Belvedere collection over the past decade, displayed within a spatial arrangement designed by artist Heimo Zobernig. In the basement, Chinese artist Miao Ying presents 'Come, Sit, Stay,' marking her first solo exhibition in Europe, which explores analogies between artificial intelligence and the animal kingdom. Additional speakers at the event included Stella Rollig, the museum's General Director; curator Sergey Harutoonian; and Chief Curator and Collection Director Luisa Ziaja. A performance by Ulli Aigner was also staged during the opening festivities. The museum noted that photographic, audio, and video recordings would be made for documentation and publicity purposes across Belvedere's media channels. Visitors concerned about being filmed were advised to contact on-site staff or photographers directly.
