Bella Easton's Collateral Drawing Series Explores Artistic Process in Ipswich Exhibition

exhibition · 2026-04-22

In an interview with Paul Carey-Kent, Bella Easton, an independent curator and painter trained at the Royal Academy, elaborates on her Collateral Drawing initiative. The fourth installment of this exhibition is set to take place at Waterfront Gallery in Ipswich, Suffolk, England, from January 4 to February 19, 2016. Curated by Easton along with John Stark, it showcases 16 artists linked to East Anglia. The project explores artistic by-products alongside completed pieces. Easton first introduced this concept two years ago at Plymouth College of Art, with subsequent exhibitions in Athens (2014) and Berlin (2015). Future shows are anticipated in London, Margate, and Toronto, featuring notable artists like Glenn Brown and Ryan Gander. The project's website chronicles all versions, and Easton intends to further develop the series.
