cultural-heritage · 2026-05-04

On June 28, 2018, the National Museum of Serbia in Belgrade is set to reopen its doors following a 15-year renovation that commenced in 2003. Architect Zoran Jovanović oversaw the modernization of the infrastructure, while Bojana Borić Brešković directed the exhibition design. The museum's ground floor will house archaeological artifacts, the first floor will present national art from the 18th and 19th centuries, and the second floor will highlight 20th-century pieces along with international collections. According to Culture Minister Vladan Vukosavljević, this reopening will enhance Belgrade's tourism. This event aligns with significant historical anniversaries and follows the Museum of Contemporary Art's reopening in fall 2017. Additionally, the 13th Belgrade International Architecture Week (BINA) took place from May 1 to 31, 2018.
