Belgrade's 56th October Salon Explores Love and Politics Through Local Artists
The 56th Belgrade October Salon, themed The Pleasure of Love: Transient Emotion in Contemporary Art, took place from September 23 to November 6, 2016, at the Belgrade Cultural Center and a former Military Academy. Curated by David Elliot, the exhibition showcased works from 67 artists across 26 nations, presenting love within the context of an "age of hate." Local creators delved into themes of memory, identity, and conflict. Among the highlighted pieces were Damaged Faces (2013) by Vladimir and Milica Perić, Fragile Presence (2016) by Rena Rädle and Vladan Jeremić, and 77 Questions (2015) by Siniša Radulović. The exhibition explored the dichotomy between idealism and reality, tackling various societal challenges.
