Collezioni Private Belga: Da Antologie Intime ad Ambizioni Museali
Un'indagine su quattro importanti collezioni private belga rivela diverse strategie per la conservazione e l'accesso pubblico. La collezione Matthys-Colle, costruita dagli anni '60 dal neuropsichiatra Roger Matthys e sua moglie Hilda Colle, è stata esposta al Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens a Deurle (estate 2007). Presenta opere concettuali e minimaliste di Kosuth, Ryman, LeWitt e altri, con un focus su pezzi di piccolo formato degli inizi di carriera degli artisti. Mark Vanmoerkerke, fondatore di Sun Parks, ha accumulato 900 opere dal 1998, ora ospitate in un ex poligono di tiro tedesco del 1942 vicino all'Aeroporto di Ostenda (750 m²), ristrutturato dall'architetto Peter De Bruycker. Lo spazio apre ogni quattro mesi con un nuovo curatore; Patrick DeBrock ha curato la prima esposizione. Walter Vanhaerents ha aperto il suo ex magazzino sanitario di 3.500 m² nel centro di Bruxelles (ristrutturato da Robbrecht & Daem) come museo privato intitolato 'Disorder in the House', con 70 opere di 30 artisti tra cui Murakami, McCarthy e Barney. L'Ullens Center for Contemporary Art, fondato da Guy e Myriam Ullens, apre il 2 novembre 2007 nel distretto di Dashanzi a Pechino (6.500 m²), progettato da Jean-Michel Wilmotte, diretto da Jan Debbaut, con Fei Dawei che gestisce la collezione. La sua mostra inaugurale '85 New Wave' si concentra sull'arte d'avanguardia cinese del 1985.
