Béla Tarr: From Anger to Torment in New Film Study

A new French-language volume titled 'Béla Tarr. De la colère au tourment' (Yellow Now, 'Côté cinéma' series) examines the Hungarian filmmaker's work. Edited by Corinne Maury and Sylvie Rollet, the book was reviewed in artpress issue n°434 (June 2016, p. 77). The review notes the paradox of analyzing verbal vertigo in Beckett's theater and applies a similar lens to Tarr's cinema, which often approaches aphasia. The study explores the shift from anger to torment in Tarr's filmography.
