Being Together Precedes Being: A Textbook for The Kids Who Want Communism
Edited by Joshua Simon, this 392-page book chronicles a year-long series of exhibitions, symposia, and events that took place from 2016 to 2017, marking the 99th anniversary of the Russian Revolution. The events were held at various locations, including MoBY (Bat Yam), Visual Culture Research Center (Kyiv), Free/Slow University (Warsaw), Šku Gallery (Ljubljana), Tranzit (Prague), State Concept (Athens), West Space (Melbourne), and Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien (Berlin). Featuring contributions from artists, filmmakers, curators, and theorists, the work is divided into six thematic sections: Communist Horizon, Real Existing Capitalism, Shock Work, Post-Soviet Depression, Red Star, and Internationale. Published by Archive Books in 2019, it also includes projects by numerous contributors and serves as a reader for the radical concept of togetherness explored in The Kids Want Communism series.
