Beijing Dangdai Art Fair Expands Beyond Fairground in Ninth Edition

In its ninth iteration, Beijing Dangdai is stepping up to fill a unique niche in the city's art scene by broadening its scope beyond the fairgrounds. Scheduled from May 23 to 26, 2024, the event showcases 96 galleries from 14 different nations, with a significant emphasis on contemporary Chinese art. A diverse public program featuring talks, performances, and film screenings will take place at various venues, including the National Agricultural Exhibition Center and other off-site locations. Li Xiaoke, the fair's director, highlighted the goal of fostering connections between local and global audiences. Among the notable participants are Beijing Commune, Boers-Li Gallery, and Tang Contemporary Art. Additionally, a new segment titled 'Tracing the Future' has been introduced to spotlight emerging artists, showcasing a commitment to engaging the wider Beijing art community beyond conventional fair settings.
