Beatrice Susa, the co-founder of the Arte Laguna Prize in Venice, has died at the age of 36 after a two-year battle with cancer. She founded the prize in 2005 with Laura Gallon, and it became one of the most appreciated contests for young Italian and international artists. Despite her illness, Susa continued to work, even appearing on stage at the last edition in March at the Arsenale. The prize receives thousands of applications annually, with around 100 selected and a total budget of about €45,000. It has involved notable jurors such as Paolo Colombo, Chus Martinez, Bartolomeo Pietromarchi, Domenico Quaranta, Gabriella Belli, and Adam Budak.
