Beatles and Marilyn Monroe Exhibitions Open in Turin

Two parallel exhibitions, 'Nothing Is Real. When the Beatles Met the East' and 'Marilyn Monroe. The Woman Beyond the Myth', have opened in Turin under the coordination of the Fondazione Torino Musei. The Beatles show, curated by Luca Beatrice at the MAO – Museo d'Arte Orientale, uses the Fab Four's 1968 trip to India as a pretext to explore the blend of high and low culture through orientalism. It features works by Alighiero Boetti, Luigi Ontani, Francesco Clemente, and Aldo Mondino, along with tantric ceramics by Ettore Sottsass and pop graphics by Matteo Guarnaccia, with little focus on Beatles memorabilia. The Marilyn Monroe exhibition at Palazzo Madama displays 150 personal objects from Ted Stampfer's collection, including clothes, accessories, documents, and film contracts, highlighting the star's private life. Monroe would have turned 90 on June 1.
