Beasts and Pieces: Galeri Nev's Residency at CFA Milan

Galeri Nev, founded in Ankara in 1984 by Ali Artun and Haldun Dostoğlu, is the first Turkish gallery invited to CFA's residency program in Milan, which began in 2019. The exhibition 'Beasts and Pieces' features artists Füreya Koral, Candeğer Furtun, Yaren Yıldız, Deniz Bilgin, Phoebe Cummings, Yasemin Özcan, Mehtap Baydu, and Betty Danon. The show centers on clay as a political, vulnerable material, referencing Jane Bennett's 'vibrant matter' and Donna Haraway's ideas of coexistence. Works evoke fragmented bodies, archaeological relics, and hybrid creatures, avoiding spectacle. The exhibition prioritizes female artists to highlight marginalized genealogies in modern art.
