Bearing House: A Multi-Generational Retirement Home in Santa Monica

Dub Studios has completed the Bearing House, a 2,500-square-foot retirement home in Santa Monica, California, designed for a couple in their late seventies who relocated from New York to Los Angeles to live near their extended family of thirty-two people. Completed in 2023, the project was curated by Hadir Al Koshta and falls under the category of residential architecture and houses. The design team, led by Dub Studios, focused on creating a space that accommodates the couple's needs while fostering connections with their children, grandchildren, parents, and siblings. The house serves as a hub for this close-knit family, emphasizing togetherness and accessibility. The architects prioritized functionality and comfort, tailoring the layout to support aging in place within a vibrant multi-generational setting.
