Be Alternative Festival returns to Sila Grande with Jeff Mills and Max Gazzè
The Be Alternative Festival returns for its 16th edition on August 2-3, 2025, in Camigliatello Silano, a mountain town in Spezzano della Sila on the Sila Grande plateau in the province of Cosenza, Calabria. Held on the shores of Lake Cecita within the Sila National Park, the festival features Italian and international artists spanning electronic music, singer-songwriter performances, and folk traditions. The lineup includes Detroit techno pioneer Jeff Mills with his project Tomorrow Comes the Harvest, which explores connections between tribal rhythms, electronics, and jazz improvisation; German ambient producer Christian Löffler; Italian dub-reggae band Almamegretta celebrating the 30th anniversary of their album Sanacore; Max Gazzè with Musicae Loci alongside the Calabria Orchestra; singer-songwriter Nada; and La Niña (Carola Moccia), whose latest work Furèsta blends ancestral sounds and Mediterranean traditions. The festival's core format, Concerti sul Lago (Concerts on the Lake), transforms the high-altitude landscape into a listening space. On August 2, the festival collaborates with Color Fest under the BE COLOR project, merging two cultural entities active in Calabria. Beyond music, the two-day event offers hiking activities in partnership with Esperiandanti and T-Space, reinforcing the festival's vision as a diffused cultural map of places, sounds, and communities.
