BBC Reschedules Radio 2 in the Park Festival in Stirling to Avoid Local Clashes

The BBC has moved the date of its Radio 2 in the Park festival, originally scheduled for August in Stirling, to September to avoid conflicting with other local music festivals. The three-day event will now take place at City Park, though specific new dates have not been confirmed. The decision followed consultations with the Scottish Independent Festival Association (SIFA) and feedback about the impact of an August staging. The line-up, previously headlined by Sting, Bryan Adams, and the Pet Shop Boys, is yet to be announced. Helen Thomas, head of Radio 2, expressed apologies for any disruption and promised artist announcements soon. This marks the first major BBC music event in Scotland since Radio 1's Big Weekend in Dundee in 2023. City Park previously hosted Stirling Summer Sessions in 2024, featuring Tom Jones, Young Fathers, and Shania Twain; that event was cancelled in 2025. A Stirling Council spokesperson welcomed the festival, highlighting City Park's track record for large-scale events.
