artist · 2026-05-05

The Bauhaus Dessau Foundation has initiated its artist residency program for 2018, welcoming contemporary artists to inhabit and create in the Masters' Houses crafted by Walter Gropius. This residency, scheduled from April to October 2018, is available to practitioners in fields such as painting, design, and photography. Artists selected must focus their projects on the theme "Standards." An international jury, featuring Claudia Perren and Melanie Roumiguière, will select two artists who will stay in Schlemmer's house for three months, with their works displayed in the Gropius House until the Bauhaus centenary in 2019. Applications must be submitted by September 6. Additionally, the foundation intends to construct a new museum in preparation for the centenary.
