Baswil's Flexible Bicycle Stabilizers Let Children Learn Balance

Baswil, a Belgian startup, has launched an innovative bicycle stabilizer that permits children's bikes to lean up to 15 degrees before the support wheels activate. Tailored for bicycles with 12- to 16-inch frames, this system features a unique dual-blade design crafted from flexible engineering plastic. A vertical blade connects to the rear axle, while a horizontal blade lies against the rear fork, ensuring a blend of flexibility and adjustability. As the bike tilts, the blades bend, gradually shifting weight to the support wheels, offering a gentler solution than traditional rigid stabilizers. Weighing approximately one kilogram per pair, the stabilizers are compatible with most children's bikes featuring standard 9.5 mm rear axles and can be installed in about five minutes with a standard wrench. The kit comprises two stabilizers, mounting hardware, and an illustrated manual. Baswil aims to assist children who can pedal but require help with balance, facilitating the development of both pedaling and balancing skills simultaneously. The company indicates that most children adjust within two to four weeks of consistent use. This product serves as an alternative to balance bikes, which are commonly used to enhance coordination before transitioning to pedal bicycles.
