Bastille Day film pulled from French cinemas after Nice attack
The film 'Bastille Day', directed by James Watkins and starring Idris Elba as a CIA agent thwarting a terrorist plot in France on July 14, was released in 233 French cinemas on July 13, 2016, the day before a terrorist attack in Nice that killed 84 people. Distributors have withdrawn the film out of respect for victims and their families. This follows a similar coincidence with the film 'Made in France' (2014) by Nicolas Boukhrief, about a journalist infiltrating a jihadist cell planning attacks in Paris, which was postponed twice after the Charlie Hebdo attack and the Bataclan shootings.
