Bass Collection from Anne Hendricks Bass to be Sold at Christie's New York

Christie's has announced the sale of twelve works from the prestigious collection of Anne Hendricks Bass, to be offered in the 20th Century Evening Sale in May 2022 in New York. The collection, estimated to exceed $250 million, includes masterpieces by Edgar Degas, Claude Monet, Mark Rothko, Vilhelm Hammershøi, and Balthus. Among the highlights are Degas's bronze "Petite danseuse de quatorze ans" (1927, est. $20-30 million) and painting "Danseuse attachant son chausson" (1887, est. $4-6 million), Monet's "Le Parlement, soleil couchant" (1903) from his Vues de Londres series, and two Rothko canvases: "Untitled (Shades of Red)" (1961, est. $60-80 million) and "No. 1" (1962, est. $45-60 million). Anne Hendricks Bass, wife of billionaire Sid Bass, was a noted philanthropist and supporter of the New York City Ballet. Her Fifth Avenue apartment was described by Max Carter, head of Christie's Impressionist and Modern Art department, as a total work of art where masterpieces conversed across rooms. The sale also includes Andy Warhol's "Shot Sage Blue Marilyn."
