Basim Magdy's Futuristic Visions at MAXXI Rome
The MAXXI museum in Rome hosts the second leg of Basim Magdy's exhibition 'The Stars Were Aligned for a Century of New Beginnings'. The Egyptian-born artist (Assiut, 1977), winner of the 2016 Deutsche Bank Artist of the Year award, presents over twenty works on paper that reimagine futuristic visions from the 1960s, including astronaut stories and fantastical planetary colonizations. Three films explore social themes, human relationships with reality, omens of death in water, collective memory, and the struggle against oblivion. The exhibition runs until October 30, 2016.
