Basement Roma relaunches with international advisory board and Ed Fornieles exhibition
Basement Roma, the non-profit independent exhibition space run by CURA Magazine in Rome's Prati district, is launching a new phase with an international Advisory Board and a new bookshop designed by Alessandro Bava. The board includes Samuel Leuenberger (director of SALT, Birsfelden, Switzerland), João Mourão & Luís Silva (co-directors of Kunsthalle Lissabon, Lisbon), Chris Sharp (co-founder of Lulu, Mexico City), and Martha Kirszenbaum (director of Fahrenheit, Los Angeles). The new season opens with "Truth Table," the first solo exhibition in Italy by Montreal-based artist Ed Fornieles (UK, 1983). The exhibition features a virtual reality project that immerses viewers in a mutable exchange of bodies involving a chain of sexual interactions. Fornieles' work operates within immersive simulations, staging change through constructed environments and events. Basement Roma also launched a new website designed by Studio Lhooq of Philadelphia.
