Basel Social Club 2025 transforms former private bank into freewheeling art hub during Art Basel week

Basel Social Club has launched its 2025 edition, occupying a former private bank at Rittergasse 25 in Grossbasel, Basel, Switzerland. Curated by Olamiju Fajemisin, director of programmes at CLEARING, the event explores themes of finance, value, and exchange. The unconventional initiative, now in its fourth year, offers free admission and presents a sprawling program across more than 100 rooms. It features works by artists including Sturtevant, Kwan Sheung Chi, Sergej Jensen, Jenny Holzer, Divya Mehra, Nan Goldin, Wolfgang Tillmans, Ian Waelder, Jiyoon Chung, Pol Taburet, Raed Yassin, Kamruzzaman Shadhin, Sadao Hasegawa, Billy Coulthurst, and Krzysztof Jung. Performances by Dahoon Nam and Faisal Abdu'Allah blur lines between art and life. A showcase of Arab Bank Switzerland's collection, curated by Nina Roehrs, includes works by Damien Hirst, Kevin Abosch, Sarah Meyohas, and Jonas Lund. The event runs until June 21, 2025, providing a counterpoint to traditional art fairs during Basel's art week.
