Basel's New Architecture: From Zumthor Extension to Dreispitz Pavilion

The architectural scene in Basel is undergoing significant transformation with various new developments. Among these, the Fondation Beyeler extension designed by Atelier Peter Zumthor is eagerly awaited, although specifics remain under wraps. Mid-May 2022 marked the inaugural ArchitekturWoche Basel, themed 'Reale Räume,' showcasing numerous events and exhibitions. Notable features include the Novartis Pavillon, designed by AMDL CIRCLE and Michele De Lucchi, which opened on April 30, 2022, and is energy self-sufficient. The temporary Basel Pavillon by Marta Colón de Carvajal and Juan Palencia will be available until September 30, 2022. Additionally, Kazuo Shinohara's Umbrella House reconstruction at the Vitra Campus was finished, with two exhibitions debuting on May 14, 2022, while 'Napoli Super Modern' at S AM runs through August 21, 2022.
