Basel Art Week: 15 Must-See Shows Across Museums and Institutions

A new 24-stop art trail designed by Tobias Rehberger connects Fondation Beyeler in Riehen and Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, opening June 12. Fondation Beyeler presents a Calder vs. Fischli/Weiss exhibition through September 4. Vitra's new Herzog & de Meuron Schaudepot hosts 'Radical Design' through September 22. In Münchenstein, Schaulager (Laurenz Foundation) shows 'Zita' by Katharina Fritsch and Alexej Koschkarov until January 31. HEK – House of Electronics Arts offers Rafael Lozano-Hemmer's first Swiss solo show 'Preabsence' through August 28. Institut Kunst features Mathilde Rosier's 'In Revolution' curated by Chus Martínez until June 24. Kunsthaus Baselland in Muttenz presents three solos by Christiane Löhr, Jonathan Monk, and Jan van der Ploeg, all closing July 17. In Basel, Kunstmuseum reopens its 1936 building plus a new Christ & Gantenbein wing, now three venues: Hauptbau shows Barnett Newman drawings and Tobias Stimmer works; Gegenwart has Reinhard Mucha; and 'Sculpture on the Move 1946-2016' spans Gegenwart and Neubau through September 18. Museum Tinguely hosts Michael Landy's 'Out Of Order' until September 25, celebrating its 20th birthday with an Out Of Order Day. Kunsthalle Basel splits between Yngve Holen's 'VERTICALSEAT' (through August 14) and Anne Imhof's 'Angst' (through August 21), with a full performance on June 15 from 7pm to midnight.
