BASE Milano Opens Indoor Bocce Court for Summer 2026

During August, when Milan's cultural calendar typically pauses, BASE Milano, a cultural center in the former Ansaldo spaces, remains open with its 'Aperta per Ferie' program. This year, it introduces 'La Bocciofila', an indoor bocce court in the Ground Hall, designed by AUT, Studio GISTO, and Hypereden. The installation features carpet, wooden rails, scoreboards, and neon lights, evoking traditional neighborhood clubs. The project stems from a decade-long research on Milanese leisure spaces, highlighting bocce courts as informal geographies that foster community through simple, accessible rituals. The summer program also includes cinema, music, concerts, DJ sets, karaoke, dance, stand-up comedy, and meetings, offering an alternative to the usual summer break for those staying in Milan. The venue is located at Via Ambrogio Bergognone da Fossano, 34, Milano.
