BASE Milano launches musicROOMS, a new hub for music production and innovation

architecture-design · 2026-05-04

In the former Ansaldo complex, BASE Milano has launched musicROOMS, a 600-square-meter venue dedicated to music production and events. Created by GEZA, the space comprises four distinct areas: Capsula (for immersive sound and filming), Project House (with 40 workstations), greenROOM (for backstage and workshops), and The Office (serving as the headquarters for the Music Innovation Hub). This hub aids music professionals and hosts the Open Sound Festival for Matera 2019, featuring artists such as Dardust and Nu Guinea. Dino Lupelli, the General Director, commented on the music industry's evolution in the post-digital age, while President Andrea Rapaccini emphasized music's impact on social change. The initiative was developed by Comune di Milano and Arci Milano, with collaboration from Avanzi and Make a Cube³. BASE Milano covers an area of 12,000 square meters.
