Barovier&Toso ARTE opens contemporary glass art gallery in Murano
Barovier&Toso ARTE, a new gallery dedicated to contemporary glass art, will open on February 12, 2025, at Palazzo Barovier&Toso in Murano. The inaugural exhibition, 'Glass Art in Dialogue / Arte del vetro in dialogo,' curated by Mara Hoffman, features artists Marija Jaensch and Amy Thai and runs until June 8, 2025. The gallery aims to elevate glass from craft to contemporary art medium, showcasing interdisciplinary practices. The exhibition space, Sala dell'Acqua on the second floor, is characterized by a truss ceiling and four large chandeliers. Jaensch and Thai previously exhibited together in 'H2O Venezia: Diari d’acqua/Water Diaries' at SPUMA – Space for the Arts in Giudecca last April, promoted by Fondazione Barovier&Toso during the 60th Venice Biennale. The Fondazione Barovier&Toso, chaired by Rinaldo Invernizzi with Mara Hoffman and Michele Milani on the board, was announced in March 2024 to preserve and research the company's heritage.
