Barjeel Art Foundation Breaks Ground on First Museum in Sharjah
In Sharjah, the Barjeel Art Foundation has commenced construction on its inaugural museum, which is scheduled to launch in January 2028. Established in 2010 by Sultan Sooud Al Qassemi, this nonprofit organization is dedicated to modern and contemporary Arab art. Spanning 3,800 square meters, the museum's design, created by Mohammed Essa of Architecture Corner Consultants, is based on a sketch by Al Qassemi. Situated on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, the museum will showcase a permanent exhibition that thematically organizes artworks from the 20th and 21st centuries, representing the Gulf, MENA region, and beyond.
