Bari's San Paolo district to become Italy's largest condominium museum with 10 new murals

exhibition · 2026-04-27

The QM – Quartiere Museo San Paolo project in Bari, Italy, aims to transform the San Paolo district into the largest condominium museum in the country through urban art. Launched by the Municipality of Bari in collaboration with Fondazione Mecenate 90, the initiative is funded by the Puglia Region with nearly €4 million allocated for murals to beautify peripheral areas. Ten artists—five international/national and five local selected via call—are creating murals, with completion and inauguration scheduled for October 24. The project involves Arca Puglia Centrale providing properties. Curator Stefano Antonelli, co-director of 999 Contemporary gallery with Francesca Mezzano, and Gianluca Marziani previously co-created Big City Life, the condominium museum in Tor Marancia that represented Italy at the 15th Venice Architecture Biennale. Artists include OZMO, GAIA (Andrew Pisacane), David Diavù Vecchiato, and David Pompili. Ledo Prato, secretary of Mecenate 90, reported that six murals are completed, with community workshops and a festive inauguration planned. The project aims to foster community belonging and create a new cultural offering for the 31,000 residents of San Paolo.
