Bari's First Balcony Exhibition Brings Art to the Streets

In Bari, curator Francesco Paolo Del Re has launched the city's inaugural balcony exhibition, named 'Il mattino ha Lory in bocca', which will be held from August 30 to September 4, 2022. This unique event is hosted on the terraces of the first-floor apartment belonging to collectors Loredana Savino and Matteo De Napoli, located in the Madonnella district. Del Re highlights that, despite Bari's rich museum landscape, there is a scarcity of venues and focus on contemporary art, leading to this innovative format. The exhibition showcases pieces from thirteen artists, including Mariantonietta Bagliato and Pierluca Cetera. An opening performance by Natascia Abbattista titled 'Perdere l’amore' is also planned. Furthermore, the Savino-De Napoli collection, featuring works by Cristiano De Gaetano and others, will be accessible by appointment during and after the event. Del Re views this initiative as a means for art to escape conventional spaces and create a vibrant disruption in the typical atmosphere of Madonnella's streets.
