Bari's Archaeological Park Transforms into Summer Cultural Hub
The archaeological park of San Pietro in Bari's old town, part of the Santa Scolastica monumental complex and its archaeological museum, is being used as a social space for summer 2020. The project, organized with the Metropolitan City of Bari and associations Daido and Veluvre, features two series: "Untitled, 2020" and "Tu non conosci il Sud. E la chiamano estate." The first, curated by Angelo Ceglie, runs Tuesdays and Thursdays until August 4, presenting nine films on contemporary art topics such as artistic languages, the art market, and truth versus fiction. Films include Orson Welles's "F for Fake," Randall Wright's "Hockney," Travis Klose's "Arakimentari," Andrzej Wajda's "Il ritratto negato," Maura Axelrod's "Maurizio Cattelan: Be Right Back," and Mario Schifano's "Umano non umano." The second series, in collaboration with Laterza, combines book presentations with musical and theatrical performances, offering multidisciplinary reflections on Southern Italy. Authors include Concita De Gregorio with "I miei Sud," Pierluigi De Palma with "Bari Calling," Gabriella Genisi, and Luca Bianchini. Performers include Francesco Di Leva, Adriano Pantaleo, Nest Napoli Est Teatro, Vince Abbracciante, and Raffaello Fusaro. Mayor Antonio De Caro noted that the event highlights a little-known part of the city that holds Bari's origins.
