Barde + vanVoltt Renovates Brutalist Penthouse in Mexico City

In the Escandón neighborhood of Mexico City, Barde + vanVoltt has completed the renovation of a 300-square-meter penthouse, reinterpreting brutalist architecture with warmth, craftsmanship, and domestic comfort. The project, designed for a couple of creative professionals, transforms a pre-existing rooftop apartment into a tranquil sanctuary above one of the city's most vibrant districts. The design team includes Bart Jan van Seggelen, Valerie Boerma, and Ivo Klaver, with Tenaz Estudio serving as the architectural office. The project was curated by Nina Vuga and photographed by Alejandro Ramirez Orozco. Nuumbra provided materials for the interior. The renovation was completed in 2025 and falls under the categories of residential architecture, penthouse, and apartment interiors. The architects' approach emphasizes a contrast to traditional brutalist aesthetics, focusing on a serene and inviting living environment.
