architecture-design · 2026-04-27

In Barcelona, Casa Sagnier, a townhouse designed by Enric Sagnier in the 19th century, has been transformed into a luxurious five-star boutique hotel. Originally constructed in 1892 as Casa Dolors Vidal de Sagnier, it underwent its first hotel renovation in 2008 and was further updated in April 2022. The hotel now boasts 51 rooms, including six suites, along with the Mediterranean restaurant and cocktail bar, Cafè de l’Arquitecte. The renovation was spearheaded by architect Federico Turull, with input from interior designers Núria Pérez-Sala, Estrella Salietti, Laura Torroba, and Studio Elefante. The Pérez-Sala family owns the hotel, which seeks to replicate the hospitality model of their Primero Primera hotel while showcasing Sagnier's eclectic Gothic style.
