Barcelona Hosts First European Conference on Architecture & the Media

The first edition of the European Conference on Architecture & the Media is taking place during the Semana d'Arquitectura in Barcelona. Organized by the Fundació Mies van der Rohe with support from Creative Europe, the conference brings together journalists and professionals from prestigious international publications to discuss the quality of architectural journalism and its ability to engage diverse audiences. Curated by Miriam Giordano and Ewa P. Porębska, the event features speakers including Sandra Hofmeister (Detail), Manon Mollard (Architectural Review), Marcus Fairs (Dezeen), Jenny Keller (World-Architects), and for Italy, Paola Pierotti (Il Sole 24Ore) and Massimiliano Tonelli (Artribune). Anna Ramos, director of the Fundació, emphasized the need for a constructive analysis of how media disseminate architectural culture. The conference addresses challenges such as the visibility of architecture in cultural sections of newspapers and the role of journalists in making architectural and urban processes understandable to the public. The program includes thematic urban tours, exhibitions, workshops, competitions, film screenings, and events crossing into dance and music.
