Barber Osgerby retrospective 'Alphabet' opens at Triennale Milano during Design Week
The exhibition 'Edward Barber | Jay Osgerby: Alphabet' at Triennale Milano celebrates the three-decade collaboration between British designers Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby. Both born in 1969, they commenced their partnership in 1996 after completing their postgraduate studies at the Royal College of Art in London. Their first significant creation, the Loop coffee table, was designed for Isokon that same year and is now part of the permanent collections at the Victoria and Albert Museum and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. They have collaborated with global brands such as Flos, Vitra, and B&B Italia. In 2007, they introduced their first lighting design, the Tab lamp for Flos. While Barber moved to Milan in 2024, Osgerby continues to reside in London with his family. The exhibition aligns with Milan Design Week and reflects their early work, which began in Barber's apartment within the Brutalist Trellick Tower. Osgerby notes that their partnership thrives on a balance of energy and healthy skepticism.
