Barbara Prenka's Soft Sculptures Speak at Lottozero
At Lottozero in Prato, Barbara Prenka (b. 1990, Gjakova, Kosovo) presents 'What Lies Behind the Boundaries of a Shadow?', curated by Alessandra Tempesti. The exhibition showcases the latest outcome of Prenka's research during a residency at Lottozero from August to September 2025. Alessandra Novaga contributes a sound composition that emphasizes the link between sound lightness and material density, engaging written and spoken word. The works were made possible by a digital embroidery machine on loan from Studio Auriga. Prenka moved to Bolzano at age seven, studied in Trento and at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia. Central to the show is the blanket from her childhood—heavy, immobilizing, reimagined as a colorful textile sculpture that challenges gravity. The exhibition is the third in Lottozero's Soft Sculpture program, following Danish Rosa Lützen and Dutch Liselore Frowijn. Lottozero, founded in 2016 by the Moroder sisters in Macrolotto Zero, supports emerging artists working with textiles through residencies and collaborations, offering inclusive spaces for parents.
