Barbara Kruger's First Live Performance at Performa 17

festival-fair · 2026-05-05

Barbara Kruger (Newark, 1945) returns to New York's public space with a series of interventions commissioned by Performa, the biennial performance art event. A new installation at Coleman Street Park, created in collaboration with Steve Rodriguez—who recently redesigned the park—is featured in a video. Kruger also designed a limited-edition series of subway tickets, a billboard, and an intervention on a school bus. On November 2, 2017, she will present her first-ever live performance, titled 'Untitled (The Drop),' at the Performa 17 Biennial Hub from 4 to 8 PM. The works are characterized by large Futura Bold text on red backgrounds, often monumental in scale.
