Barbara Clausen appointed rector of Städelschule and director of Portikus

Barbara Clausen has just been named the rector of the Städelschule in Frankfurt and will also direct its gallery, Portikus. Known for her expertise in performance art, she has curated important exhibitions like After the Act: The (Re)Presentation of Performance Art in 2005 and the Push and Pull series from 2010 to 2011, in partnership with MUMOK Vienna, Tanzquartier Wien, and Tate Modern. Clausen earned her PhD at the University of Vienna in 2010 and has organized notable projects, including Something to Say, Something to Do in 2012 and Babette Mangolte's retrospective in 2013. She takes over from Yasmil Raymond in October, and her term lasts five years. Portikus will feature Adrian Piper's work in November.
