Barbara Bloom and Silvia Bächli Solo Shows at Raffaella Cortese in Milan

exhibition · 2026-04-26

Galleria Raffaella Cortese in Milan presents two solo exhibitions across its three spaces on Via Stradella: Barbara Bloom's 'Accord' and Silvia Bächli's 'Lines are telling stories'. Bloom, who has worked with the gallery since 1999, explores the theme of agreement as suspended tension, referencing historical treaties from the Egyptian-Hittite peace of 1269 BC to the 1993 end of Apartheid in South Africa. Her installation features an imaginary poker table with Jesus, Émile Zola, Nefertiti, and Amy Winehouse, suggesting universal aspirations for harmony. Bloom defines her practice as 'visual innuendo', a fluid boundary between visible and invisible. Bächli, represented by the gallery since 2013, continues her investigation into the essence of drawing, presenting works from 2006 to the present, including 'Untitled' and 'Spine 2', alongside the solid color fields of her 'Farbfeld' series. The exhibitions run until April 2025. Additionally, Bächli has a special project at Museo Morandi in Bologna until May 18, 2025, where her works dialogue with Giorgio Morandi's still lifes.
