Baquio Arquitectura's Casa 6-3: A Polycarbonate-Clad Triangular Retreat in Ecuador's Cloud Forest

Casa 6-3, designed by Baquio Arquitectura, is a lightweight triangular shelter elevated on stilts in the Mindo ecosystem of Ecuador's Chocó cloud forest. Originally conceived as a temporary hospitality structure, the compact house explores the relationship between architecture, landscape, and atmospheric conditions. Its timber framework is enclosed by a translucent polycarbonate skin that diffuses daylight and allows filtered views, making rain, shadows, and shifting vegetation part of the interior experience. The triangular geometry extends outward to frame panoramic mountain views while minimizing ground contact on the steep topography. Designed for long-term adaptability, the structure can be transformed into a permanent residence, with polycarbonate cladding replaceable over time while the timber framework remains.
