Banksy Unveils Suited Figure Statue on Waterloo Place, London
A new statue by Banksy was unveiled on 29 April 2026, located at Waterloo Place in central London. The artwork features a suited individual in mid-stride on a pedestal, with a flag obscuring his face and one foot extending off the edge. Although Banksy's signature is carved into the back of the pedestal, the artist has yet to authenticate the piece on Instagram or his official website. Waterloo Place, established in the early 1800s to celebrate victory over Napoleon, is adorned with statues of military leaders and imperial figures, flanked by Carlton House Terrace and the Athenaeum Club. Across the street, the gilded figure of Athena, the goddess of wisdom, watches over the area. The sculpture critiques blind nationalism and power, encouraging viewers to "look where you are going."
