Banksy sells 50 screenprints for Ukraine relief
Banksy has announced the creation of 50 screenprints to raise funds for Ukraine, with all proceeds going to Legacy of War Foundation to support victims of the conflict. The prints, each unique due to the artist's process of cutting them with a sharp pizza cutter, are signed and numbered from an edition of 50. Priced at £5,000 plus taxes, they come framed and packaged. Registration to purchase is open on the Legacy of War Foundation website until Friday, December 16. Banksy stated he covered all production costs, so every penny from sales will fund medical supplies, heating, water, and other aid for the team in the conflict zone. He recounted witnessing Legacy of War's work in a bombed building and borrowing one of their ambulances, which proved useful when an angry babushka called the police after he painted on her building. This follows Banksy's confirmation that he created seven murals in Borodianka, Kyiv, and Irpin, areas heavily affected by bombing. The art world has widely supported Ukraine, with figures like Elena Kovalskaya resigning from Moscow's Vsevolod Meyerhold Theatre in protest and La Scala asking conductor Valery Gergiev to take a political stance.
