Banksy's 'War, Capitalism & Liberty' Exhibition Opens in Rome with Over 150 Works

The exhibition 'Guerra, Capitalismo & Libertà' (War, Capitalism & Liberty) at Palazzo Cipolla in Rome presents over 150 works by Banksy, the anonymous British street artist, all sourced from private collections and none removed from the streets. Organized by Fondazione Terzo Pilastro – Italia e Mediterraneo in collaboration with 999 Contemporary, the show is curated by Stefano Antonelli, Francesca Mezzano, and gallerist Acoris Andipa. The exhibition is structured around an agora that critiques capitalism with sarcastic humor, featuring iconic pieces like 'Morons' (depicting an auction where bidders buy a work calling them morons), 'Applause' (jets demanding applause like a talk show), and 'Love is in the Air' (a flower thrower). Themes include consumerism, childhood innocence contrasted with violence, and repression, with recurring motifs of children, monkeys, and rats. The show runs until September 4, 2016, at Fondazione Roma Museo – Palazzo Cipolla.
