Banksy's first official exhibition 'Cut&Run' opens in Glasgow

Banksy's first official solo exhibition, 'Cut&Run', opens June 18 at the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) in Glasgow, running through August 28, 2023. The show traces the artist's career from the 1980s to recent works, focusing on the stencils used for murals worldwide, including on bomb-damaged buildings in Ukraine. Visitors must lock their phones in pouches for the entire visit, though museum staff can take photos on request. Weekend night viewing is available until 5 a.m. The exhibition includes the stab-proof vest Banksy made for rapper Stormzy, paintings replicating iconic murals like the 2017 Basquiat tribute at London's Barbican Centre, and the shredded 'Girl with Balloon' from the 2018 Sotheby's auction. Banksy stated, 'I've kept these stencils hidden for years, aware they could be evidence in a criminal prosecution. But that moment seems to have passed, so now I'm exhibiting them as art. I don't know which is the greater crime.'
